If shabby chic is your style when it comes to art, furniture and jewelry, the Front Porch Pickins Vintage & Handmade Market might be your cup of tea.
The market will include “rusty retro” and many handmade items with some history when it comes to Tumbleweed Park on East Germann Road in Chandler from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 21st and 22nd, said Desiree Byrne, one of the owners of Front Porch Pickins.
More than 100 vendors will be selling antiques, furniture, paintings, photos, old cigar boxes made into guitars, as well as clothes and other vintage items at the market.
“Vintage is anything retro, 20 years or older,” Byrne said. “It’s a lot of fun. Vintage is really, really in.”
If you are more inclined to get revved up over classic cars, you’re in luck. For the first time the market will also include the Front Porch Pickins Vintage & Classic Car Show going on simultaneously. Expect to see about 75 cars that are at least 25 years old.
Tumbleweed Park is an ideal place for the vintage extravaganza, said Byrne, who has been putting on events with her partners since 2013.
“That park is huge,” she said. “I love that it’s in the city but it doesn’t feel like it’s in the city. It’s kind of like a nostalgic feel.”
The market is also being held at Turf Paradise in Phoenix in November, as well as WestWorld of Scottsdale in June. Vintage
lovers can even catch the market in Quincy, Illinois, Nashville, Tennessee and Waco, Texas.
Byrne advises people to plan on spending at least a few hours at the event in Chandler. Food vendors will be at the park and it’s a great family attraction because vendors will sell old toys there. To learn more, visit frontporchpickins.com/.
