The Chandler Chamber of Commerce often bestows awards to companies and individuals in the city, but recently it picked up an honor for itself.

Its 2018 “How We Stand Legislative Agenda” booklet has won a national Award of Excellence from the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives in the communications excellence awards program.

Chambers are recognized each year for outstanding marketing and communications work through ACCE’s program.

“ACCE submissions are meticulously reviewed by judges/peers from the ACCE community,” the association said. “This year, the Chandler Chamber was honored to take home an award in the publications category.”

The Chamber board develops and executes an annual strategic plan, adopting public policies based on input in accordance with Chamber members’ concerns and needs.

The information in “How We Stand” was compiled by eight comprehensive roundtable discussions centered on economic development, education, land use, transportation, education and other topics.

The meetings included key Chamber stakeholders, workforce and community members narrowing down the criteria to disclose. Included in the book are local, regional and federal positions on all categories.

Chamber President/CEO Terri Kimble said, “Our Chamber puts so much time and effort into making sure ‘How We Stand’ is truly reflective of the voice of business in Chandler that we are honored this booklet’s value has been recognized.”

“‘How We Stand’s’ guiding principles have developed into a driving force and key reference for many of Chandler’s city and state legislators. The book increased the involvement of the Chamber with its city, state and federal government and impacted bills and propositions throughout the year,” the association said, adding:

“The issues in ‘How We Stand’ have shown potential new Chandler businesses exactly what the Chamber’s advocacy will be in the coming year.”
