Food trucks are back in Chandler after a three-year hiatus, and residents are eating them up.

Chandler FEASTival returned to the city Sept. 9, and the next one will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Arizona Dance Studio parking lot at 25410 S. Arizona Ave., Suite 194 in Chandler.

“We were just really blown away by this first event,” azFEASTIVALS founder and owner Casey Stechnij said. “Chandler really came through. It was a warm day; they still came out. We had a full house there. A good time was had by all.”

Stechnij said close to 3,000 people came to the Chandler FEASTival, where they tried food available at 28 food trucks.

“azFEASTivals mission is to bring community together,” Stechnij said. “Community to us are the intersections of food, art, music and family. Our events bring all these elements together for a fun, memorable and inexpensive experience.”

FEASTivals bring gourmet food to Chandler through a partnership with Living Chandler, a Facebook group.

Started in 2012, azFEASTivals is a Valley food truck resource that organizes more than 300 food truck events a year, connects the public with food truck chefs and provides private and public catering for corporate lunches, weddings and other special events.

Stechnij said more than 20 food trucks will be at the Chandler FEASTival Sept. 22, but the exact line-up of which ones will be there had not been finalized yet.

He said there will be food from “around the world,” including tacos, burgers and other popular food.

Stechnij said the food trucks in Chandler will come out once or twice a month on some Saturday nights and some Sundays, and organizers will “see where the interest is.”

azFEASTivals also has food trucks in Gilbert, Queen Creek and Mesa. The same food trucks go to the different festivals, but different trucks go at different events so customers won’t see the same ones two times in a row.

Here are details on the upcoming azFEASTivals in the Southeast Valley:
