The Santan Junior High School girls soccer team is getting a kick out of a recent big win.
On May 23, the team scored the Eastern Valley Conference Championship with a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Casteel High School’s eighth-grade team. This victory wraps up two full soccer seasons, from April to May of last year, and April to May of this year. Along the way, the Santan girls conceded only 11 goals and scored a total of 190 goals, which saw the team record 25 victories with no losses for both seasons.
“The girls’ success was achieved through skill, grit and a sheer determination to win,” head coach Ben Mitchell, also a teacher at the school, said. “Their teamwork and bonds of friendship helped secure their success.”
Coach Mitchell said he enjoyed every minute of this successful two years with his champions but will be moving on to new challenges next year.
Congratulations to Coach Mitchell and his amazing Santan Stormers!
