BevMo! stores’ program helping furry friends

A national retailer with a Chandler store is hoping its new charitable program will be the purr-fect way to help furry friends. BevMo! wants to be the cat’s meow and get dogs’ tails wagging with its new Loves Pets program. The specialty chain store will provide 100 percent of proceeds from its weekly wine and beer tastings across Arizona to the Arizona Animal Welfare League.

The tastings themselves are free in Ari- zona, but BevMo! puts signs and donations boxes in its stores where customers can contribute if they like to help furry friends.

The charitable program was announced a few months ago and the company has made a one-year commitment to the animal organiza- tion. Money collected for the cause will be donated to the league on a quarterly basis.

The donations will help the league as it assists animals with medical treatment, adoption, rehabilitation, training and other support. Arizona Animal Welfare League’s mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and find new homes for dogs, puppies, kittens and cats around the state that have been aban- doned, abused, surrendered and neglected.

“As the neighborhood beverage store, it’s important we give back to the people we serve, which

includes our four-legged friends,” said Dimitri Haloulos, CEO of BevMo!. “We are most excited to be helping this wonderful organization and we’re sure our customers are, too.”

The BevMo! Loves Pets donation pro- gram began in all the nearly 170 stores in mid-September. Money collected at the chain’s stores in California and Washington will be donated to local animal organiza- tions in those states.

The wine tastings are held every Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Chandler BevMo! at 7230 W. Ray Road.

BevMo! touts its friendly environment with competitively priced wine, craft beer and spirits, along with complementary items including specialty snacks, cigars, glassware and related wine and bar accessories.

All stores house-train mixologists who are knowledgeable about the drinks and ot  er items sold.
