Why are you running for or seeking another term on City Council?

I am running for Chandler City Council because my 47 years of public service in law enforcement and higher education can and will make a difference in the lives of Chandler residents. My wife and I moved our family to Chandler over 20 years ago and I want to use my experience and knowledge to advance Chandler as a growing and vibrant community. Chandler’s diverse populations from young families to seniors enjoying the success of their careers want and deserve a voice on the council that will advocate for them. I want to do my part to make and keep Chandler a great place to live and work.

FOR INCUMBENTS: Briefly explain your three most significant accomplishments.

FOR NEW CANDIDATES: Why should voters consider you?

I bring a unique a unique combination of professional experience and background to the Chandler City Council. No other candidate possesses similar credentials. As a former school resource officer, I will work with teachers, school administrators, parents and law enforcement to create exceptionally performing safer schools and neighborhoods. The council works for the people of Chandler and they need all viewpoints represented and someone that will champion and protect their interests. To be considered a world class great city, it is imperative that the council reflects the growing needs and diversity of its residents.

FOR INCUMBENTS: What initiative do you most regret not getting done and why didn’t it?

FOR NEW CANDIDATES: What would you bring to City Council that it doesn’t have now?

An important quality for Councilmembers to possess is the ability to communicate effectively with their constituents. In my conversations with residents while collecting nomination petition signatures and when I have met with small business owners they have shared with me their Page 2 of 2

frustration with elected officials that they only see during the campaign cycle. I am committed to interacting with the residents throughout Chandler on a continuing basis. I have assured the citizens I met with that they can expect me to be an accessible Councilmember – open to hearing their suggestions for improved city services and concerns.

What is the biggest challenge facing Chandler over the next five years?

Chandler’s explosive growth is evidenced by all of the new buildings and construction we see occurring throughout Chandler. This growth will place greater interest in new mixed use commercial and residential development where people can live, work and enjoy their families. Demand for city services – including police, fire, emergency medical, parks, libraries, water, and trash collection will increase. Chandler leadership has done a great job ensuring the fiscal strength of the city. Our challenge will be to balance the demand for increased services from a growing population with the resources available to the council.

What are your three primary goals if you are elected?

Safe neighborhoods, outstanding schools, and support for our small businesses and corporate citizens. These are the cornerstone of Chandler’s growth and prosperity and the “building blocks” of our communities. First responders must have the resources to address a growing population. We must ensure our children are safe at schools and are prepared for 21st century jobs and future success. Our economic investment and businesses are vital to the success of the Chandler community. I am committed to ensuring that the City of Chandler continues to be a prosperous and desirable community where businesses want to locate and people want to live.

How can Chandler best sustain the high quality of life it currently enjoys?

By listening to its residents first and doing what is in the best interest of its citizens. A fiscally sound city, strong bond ratings, balanced budgets, and thoughtful use of our current resources creates the amenities, and attractions that people want to enjoy. This influences the decisions made by families considering moving to Chandler. We must elect council members who have the skills and commitment to make the decisions to move Chandler forward. My background, academic preparation, and professional careers provide me with the experience to serve the people of Chandler as a collaborative member of the council.
