Classic Image Dance in Chandler has been accepted into the More Than Just Great Dancing international affiliation program.
That means the studio, at 335 N. Austin Drive, now belongs to a “community of dance studio owners committed to providing more than excellent dance instruction,” owner Shannon Wilson said.
Founded by Misty Lown, owner of Misty’s Dance Unlimited, the More Than Just Great Dancing license is based on the same principles Lown used to grow her own Wisconsin studio that serves more than 700 students and has awarded more than $135,000 in scholarships.
“The approach places the customer at the center of the dance studio world and equips licensed studios to transform staff teaching and leadership skills, provide quality programs and curricula, employ best management practices and have a positive impact on their communities,” Wilson said.
Classic Image Dance principals may join other industry leaders in web seminars and teleconferencing discussions as well as connect with other studio owners to share ideas, drive industry innovations, and address challenges.
Classic Image Dance also recently secured it’s charter with the National Honor Society for Dance Arts.
That is a program of the National Dance Education Organization, created to recognize outstanding artistic merit, leadership, and academic achievement in students studying dance in public and private schools in K-12 education, dance studios, cultural/community centers, performing arts organizations, and post-secondary education.
Classic Image Dance is one of only five dance studios in Arizona that has received this charter.
“We are excited to be a part of such an incredible organization and are looking forward to the opportunities it will bring to our students and the community,” Wilson said, adding:
“We are truly living by our mission to create tomorrow’s leaders through dance, and now as a charter member of NHSDA, our students will continue to pursue their passion, while holding a high academic standard and giving back to our community. It’s a win-win-win situation for all involved.”
Classic Image Dance was founded in 1992 and provides instruction in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary, pointe and tumbling to more than 300 students ranging from 2 to 18 years old.
The studio is holding a free dance day and open house 5:30-7:30 p.m. July 26 with sample classes, giveaways and treats.
